Singapore Airlines Tokyo-Narita to Los Angeles Suites Class A380 July 2013
When I heard that the 787s were returning to service I knew I had to book a flight. I decided to use the July 4th holiday to hop over to Tokyo for a day. I then began the search for my return flight looking at different options, but the choice was easy, I was going to try Singapore’s A380 Suites for my return from Tokyo to Los Angeles. This quick trip would allow me to experience two new products, my first flight on a 787 (and first flight with ANA’s new Inspiration of Japan business class) and my first flight with Singapore’s Suites Class.
I flew out to San Jose (SJC) on the 4th and stayed by the airport. My ANA flight departed SJC on the 5th and arrived at Tokyo-Narita (NRT) on July 6th. I was really looking forward to this flight.
Check-in was efficient. No one was in the business class line and it took about a minute. The security line was also quick and took no more than 5 minutes. This was my first time at the SJC airport and I really liked it. It is a nice airport.
ANA uses a contract lounge, “The Club at SJC”. It is located across and upstairs from Gate 15, which also happened to be the gate from which my flight would depart.
The club was up on the 2nd floor. It is a nice space, plenty of natural light and nice furniture. It wasn’t very busy at all on this day, likely due to the fact that it was the middle of a holiday weekend.
I found a table by the food and bar area. I ordered a beer from the bartender and proceeded to get some food as I had skipped breakfast this morning.
The buffet included breads, salad, sandwiches and soup. I had a sandwich and yogurt.
Soon enough it was getting close to boarding time and I proceeded to grab my bags to head to the departure gate.
